Welcome to the project thread for my upcoming modification: SMF Highscores! SMF Highscores is a state of the art modification to currently SMF 2 which features a fully integrated highscores system for your very own SMF forum. Unlike most other highscore scripts, SMF Highscores actually integrates right into your SMF software. And since its packaged as a modification, its extremely easy to use. Tired of manually setting up highscores? SMF Highscores automatically creates the proper SQL tables and with an easy setup script, you will have your highscores running in no time!





On to some features;

A seperate page integrated in SMF which deals with the actual highscores.
A whole new section in the admin control panel for configuration of the highscores.
A fully working search feature.
Supports every current RS skill (including Overall).
Highscore statistics.
A fully customizable 'Custom Block' for anything you wish to add.
Supports pagination.
Maintenance mode for administrators only.
Completely customizable.
Easy installation script.

One question is the MOD for runescape only or runescape private servers. If it was runescape then it reminds me of the MOD for IPB it works like 80% like yours but it does not have the custom block part.

Ahh, I have completed a perfect search engine. You can choose to either search as an exact match or notm and it queries each result properly.

The only thing I need to fix now is the sub template that doesnt seem to be adjusting height properly. YOu will see in the new picture I added to the OP.

When you release, will you show us how to make it so that Admins are not on the highscores? Moderators and donators would be fine though. Also, will Moderators have crowns next to their name in the highscores?

This will be way better than CrisisX's. Why would the highscores update if the server isnt online? That doesnt make sense because if the server isnt online, how are the scores supposed to change? Because obviously the players cant be online. :p

I will make a feature that will allow you to include admins, moderators and such. And I can include crowns next to their name, thats a good idea.

I already mentioned that yes, admins can be excluded. This would work for any server since this is server-independant meaning a server doesnt have to do things a certain way for this to work. The stats are updated whenever the new stats are sent to the database, again, server independant.

It uses the same database SMF uses. However that shouldnt be a problem because you can choose to import current settings from the other database to this one. All you would have to do server-sided is add another SQL query.

Will you add a tut on how to add it to any type of server? Sorry for the stupid questions but I'm really interested and have never used SQL before.

I will be putting a site up which will have a support board and some nifty things like tutorials and how to extend the highscores. As a matter of fact, you will also be able to write plugins using SMF's Package Manager.

You should add a minium score to be placed on the highscores, such as 10k total exp.

A bug has been fixed, and next im going to move on to character profiles (displaying all their scores).

As I was configuring the user profiles feature, I thought to myself.. "Hm, well wouldnt it be a better idea to create that install script then move on from there?". So for now I have the template for the profiles, but now im going to move on to the install script. If I can get a universal, simplistic idea into my head and use that, then the highscores can adapt to the settings provided in the script.

Exactly, the toughest part was making the installation script because lots of people get confused and give up on that step. So I took extra precautions and planned out how it would work. Its going great so far, and the import feature is pretty creative if I do say so myself. I just havnt started the installation procedure for the first option (creating new) yet.

I havnt thought of doing profiles which are integrating with full forum accounts because most people choose not to. I might take a gamble and implement a third option in the installation script to do so.

Also, are you planning on adding a feature that could remove admins, mods, both, or if people decide to include them to identify what rank they are.

I was going to do inclusion of ranks specified by the user who installed the highscores yes, however, unless there is full integration with the forum, the server itself would have to supply the player rights through the query to the highscores. :)

I have finally finished the importing installation option for the installer, fixed many bugs. Fortunately, the next two options will take about 1/3 the time it took me to make this, which is awesome!

I can't wait for this. Great job. Im using some of your SMF mods already and there great.
