I prefer hand-coding with Dreamweaver. I use the Preview tab to see if what I'm doing is remotely correct. I always save and upload to make completely sure, though.

Manual coding is obviously a lot better, as long as you know what you're doing. I can't say whether or not you should write the code in dreamweaver though, because I've only ever used a simple text editor.

If you're bored of dreamweaver and find it easy, then yeah it is time to start manual coding.

Eh? Notepad doesn't use colours, that's dreamweaver. Unless people have problems reading black text, but that's another problem of its own and I'm sure these people have ways of reading it.

It uses black and white which is a color.

Edit: And with some people, the opposit color IE Black and White doesn't mix with their eyes and gives them head aches.

Any way lets not go off-topic.

I hard-code all the time and I must say I have learned a lot on how to manage designs and create work arounds in CSS designs made myself.

I don't really care for DreamViewer. I love just coding in Notepad++ and using FileZilla.

I find that hand coding is easier than using Dreamweaver, it gives more stability to what I usually code.

Dreamweaver can sure help you learn standard html.
