7 BELIEVED reasons the world will end in 2012

Scientific experts from around the world are genuinely predicting that two years from now, all life on Earth could well finish. Some are saying it’ll be humans that set it off. Others believe that a natural phenomenon will be the cause. And the religious folks are saying it’ll be God himself who presses the stop button…

1. Mayan Calendar
Only the registered members can see the link.

The first mob to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things:

Building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and Sacrificing Virgins.

Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it’s likely they’ve got the end of the world right as well.

2. Sun Storms

Only the registered members can see the link.

Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it’s supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it’s been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it’ll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012

3. The Atom Smasher

Scientists in Europe have been building the world’s largest particle accelerator. Basically its a 27km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the Universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it’s properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They’re predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

4. The Bible says…

If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn’t bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act aswell. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between Good an Evil, has been set down for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

5. Super Volcano

Only the registered members can see the link.

Yellowstone National Park in the United States is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple – it’s sitting on top of the world’s biggest volcano, and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we’re many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

6. The Physicists

This one’s case of bog-simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berekely Uni have been crunching the numbers. and they’ve determined that the Earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they’re claiming their calculations prove, that we’re all going to die, very soon – while also saying their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 percent- and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.

7. Slip-Slop-Slap- BANG!

We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that shields us from most of the sun’s radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call north and south have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so – and right now we’re about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is underway, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.

From a religious point of view - maybe however with the things that happened and the things that we can predict scientifically - it cannot happen and I guess we'll see so later.

This makes the most sense, and yet I still don't believe it.
And has everyone forgotten that the Mayan's were killed off by the Spanish?
Or maybe it could've been overrunned by another tribe? There's nothing to prove they stopped the calender because it was end of the world.
But it's bullshit either way, and I don't believe it. So when you all are worrying I shall be laughing :3

1) It's a coincidence
2) Sun Storms? ROFL So if Jupiter out of no where explodes its the 2012 prophecy? This is just pure bullshit.
3) Thats just pure retardation
4) The bible also states Mary got pregnant without having sex.
5) A Super Volcano can't make the whole world explode. sure if it explodes it might kill tons of people and ruin areas, but not the whole world.
6) Makes me laugh, its same as the bible one. I could be the smartest man on the planet, and say "The world will end tomorrow" Will everyone believe in that?
7) Now tell me, how do scientists know the Earth is that old? The bible? Thats pure Bull. A piece of paper can't prove crap.

None of these points are backed up by reliable evidence.

Just because the mayans were right about calculating the lunar cycle and various other cycles does not make them the masters of the universe. The mayans were around how long ago? And how more knowledgeable are we now? There hasn't even been any calculation provided. The mayans weren't psychic - they did mathematical calculations, and a random statement of the world ending in 2012 isn't very strong.

All the "scientific" points are just exaggerations and false representation of facts. The LHC may well produce very high density entities, but they wont turn into a massive black hole capable of consuming the entire Earth.

I do think that something volcano related will happen very soon though, what with Iceland and everything. If we have another "ash cloud" for long enough, importing will become a lot more expensive and supplies will be in high demand. Of course, we can still use sea transport, but it's too slow and not really cost effective.

BP has started the way to 2012.

I agree with this, Potstyle. If people haven't stopped what they have started, the end will be the cause of humanity's own selfishness. Part of this could be the BP oil disaster.

I believe in this.

Actually, most Myan descendants don't even know about, or believe the Myan calendar predicting the ending of the world. It isn't even proven that Myans have predicted the end, the calendar has just ended on that date. It could've meant that they didn't know what happened beyond that point, or they thought their own people would be extinct at that time.

I lol'd at this, anyway it's been proven false.

Nothing can be proven false or true 100%. The world may or may end in 2012, it may even end tomorrow.

Otherwise, good post. It makes people think. :D

The mayan's couldn't be bothered finishing the calender is what I heard lol. But in all seriousness the end of the world isn't in 2012 december 21st but the end of humanity will be. We won't all die by any of those things directly. But the majority of the planet's people will go insane due to fear and corruption.

Their isn't going to be the end of the world. I just have to say, that I believe it was all made up. Scientists make up a lot of things these days, just so they can get money. I know they have to prove it, but I bet they like programmed for example a Module of the world ending to show councils or something to show them how it works.

bloodpk3r
June 18th, 2010, 23:51
lol guy above me..? tell me how the scientists make money by saying the world is over? you made me laugh so hard! how on earth do they get "paid" for telling
people the earth is going to end? >.< anyways in my opinion its only been like i dont know what 100 years since athiesm has been made? before then all our ancestors believed in a religion of some sort... sticking with human history and going to say if there was an end it would be the religious view.. just because how can so many people be wrong for the majority of the amount of time humans have been on earth we have always believed in a higher being, purpose or something after death
in the last 100 years we are starting to ask questions and we are telling ourselves that this is making us smarter when i think its just making ourselves more arrogant and stupid.. lol anyways im done theres my input for this debate ;)

Solar flare will hit sometime around 2013 actually.

Read Here (Only the registered members can see the link.)

But so far they predict it'll hit england, meh who knows it may be world-wide hit as it's the sun :L

All PC stuff would be fried; apparently unplugging PC from the main power supply will save some; that i cannot be sure on as i was told this :L

The hdd's would be wiped :L unless placed in a Ledded case.

Meh but yeah main point the solar flare won't hit until around 2013.

2. The Super Volcano. Its about five thousand years late already... :S
3. 3rd World War is about to start. USA is moving troops to Persian Gulf. Usually they leave note about field training... this time no note given.
4. Mayans were seriously clever.
5. We all know, that christian bible throws off by about 1-50 years... I BELIEVE... 21.12.2012 is the date, when jesus-astronaut left earth... he claimed to come back when time is ready... could the time possibly be 2000 years?
7. SunStorms effect phones... what about nuclear missiles with electronic launchers? Russia alone has enough nukes to kill each human on the earth fifty times...
8. CERN
9. Nasas recent TOP-SECRET classified findings.
10. I will be partying with my friends 21.12.2012, this was arranged four years ago when I knew barely something about 2012... so, our party will cause 21.12.2012 :(

A very few idiots probably, I truthfully admit, i have NEVER heard anyone talk about Nibiru, i've heard the word, but never been explained, never bothered, but anyways back on topic. Most people don't know about Nibiru, so only a few people would actually debate about that being the cause of 2012.
I don't need to learn anything about 2012, its a simple common knowledge theory. 1 Idiot spreads rumor around = becomes world-wide popular = everyone starts talking about it.
theres nothing to learn about 2012.

Nibiru is actually very much possible. It was previously neglected as the news of the discoverary was casted aside by the bigger and at the time more important news, the 2006 tsunami. However it is currently being taken very seriously, regardless of its authentisity, I highly doubt, as do many, that it will actually hit or bypass earth in 2012.

Something in that time frame which I actually think is possible, would be a gamma ray burst. They are in range to destructively affect us, and are due to occur in 2012. However, even with this it isn't conclusive that it will be directed towards the earth's direction.

About the original post, a "mini black hole" wouldn't be as destructive as you may think. In fact the black hole that would be created, if it does, would be so miniscule it wouldn't be able to bring anything anything into its gravitational pull as it is so small. On a large scale, a blackhole is simple a caved in star. Stars have huge gravitional pulls, which is why when a black hole is born, it has a stronger pull than its previous form. The reason why its thought by many to be so destructive, is because as it brings more mass into its core it compresses it which adds additional gravitional pull. On the scale that would be created on earth, this wouldn't happen as the core wouldn't be able to bring in enough mass to cause significant change in its gravitional pull increasing its size and power. Instead it would eventually "burn out", something on such as small scale would have a very short life. In fact it is often discussed that a "miniblack hole" has already been created on earth during similar experiments.

Shishir G, Twisted is right - you need to have knowledge about the subject in order to partake in its discussion.

Nibiru is only an aspect of the discussion, most people don't even briefly know all the details of something before they begin to debate. Wouldn't it be acceptable for someone to debate a particular aspect of the debate, for example if someone had extensive knowledge about the sun's activities, one aspect of the debate, would it not be acceptable for them to partake in the debate without knowing about other aspects? By this I don't mean in a ignorant way, but wouldn't they be allowed to debate just that part of it? - Just for my own knowledge.

I haven't seen 7 years of happiness yet, so that can't happen.

Again people, think about it. What has happened once the 2012 theory became a public world-wide thing?
1) they sell T-shirts.
2) they made a damn idiotic movie on it, which completely sucked.
3) the mayan spot is now one of the most visited places in the world for tourists.

They gained money from it, and they don't give a shit now. They'll also say 2016 is the year the world ends, and yeah so on.

1) The Mayans have been very accurate, even predicting Hitler. It could be a coincidence, likely not.
2) It's all ready proven, just not proven fatal.
3) I don't even know how to criticize this failure in your post. Have you have ever smashed atoms?
4) It's not just the Christian Bible. Also, the bible is not meant to be taken literally. Your extreme amount of atheism has gotten in the way of your logic.
5) Agree. Though it has more effects than raw killing power. There would be extreme economic failure, and refugees everywhere. It could very well mess up the world.
6) Yeah but it's a group of the smartest people in the world that have worked it in to a 99% chance. They're way smarter than you, all though that's not saying much.
7) This is perhaps your biggest failure. Carbon dating and dating rocks have told the scientists the world is approximately 5 billion years old.

P.S. I don't believe in this 2012 crap too, but my mind is open to it.

I have to say, there may be many opinions and few facts to prove 2012, however, I find no conclusive evidence, thus such a thing cannot be proven. For example, If you were put on trial for stealing something and you were the only one in the store at the time along with the shopkeeper, there'd be no conclusive evidence to convict you based on that one mere fact. What I'm trying to say is however likely this event is, there's no conclusive evidence to support it, therefore it's no more than a nonsensical myth to me.

Polar shifts happen every 300000 to 400000 years and guess what? It doesnt just happen, no takes thousands of year's. It also wrong there's no evedience saying it will end all life on earth, hense forth theres no evidence saying it doesnt

solar storms happen every 11-13 years so its a nutral prosses but once again theres no evidence it WILL end all life on earth or most but then again, theres no evidence it WON'T end all life on earth

The bible says it could end tonight? Tommorw next year next time you say lol? In my opion jesus smells.

atom smasher is the second biggest threat even with a tiny chance of mass destuction what could end all life on earth and mars, if that picture was correct.

yellowstone is a longtime overdue it is dormant atm but it looks like its going to errupt soon! When it does it might NOT kill us all but certainly america.

Actually the bible says that we will know what year we will die on but not the date. Also, they said that on 666 that the devil was going to come, they said on 2000 that we was all going to die, they said on 2004 too what we were going to die.

yes, we will die we can't do anything about it theres to much evidence. also? planet x! nasa built a big telescope shit thing to watch it move from under the sun to hit us or pas between earth and the sun muckign up the waves making big tidel waves and other shit but avoid? don't post stuff liek this to try and scare peopel because theres probly liek 9 year old's on here who are gonan be cryign and havign nightmares

in my personal view, i think we will die sometime during 21st of december 2012. There's to much evidence but the thing what makes it scary was nasa discoverd a big object in 1982 called planet x they said during the 2010-2013 it could hit us or come close to us so hence forth the big telescope to track it in the south pole what i forgot to post earlyer.

thing what makes it seem LESS deadly is the samurins or w/e, basically the this ancient people! earlyer than the mayens or whatever the called.
basically the samurins were very very advanced they had ideas of the universe, astronermy ancient astronaught. in ther tombs etc they had pictures and talked about this race caleld the "anukia". they said they came from a planet caleld naboo (yes the star wars planet) a.k.a planet x, the samurins said they helped them evole and created the world. they invted money so know one could be equal what the samurins talked bout thousands of years ago? guess what they was right. the same as the mayhens they predicted 2012 BUT in the mahen calender also same as the samurins not the end! but simply a new beging. this is where that guy who came up with evolution comes in. in 2012 we could evolove into some strange creature or the monkeys could turn into the cave men...etc etc. but thats why i think the mayhens are BULLSHIT. look on youtube anstor of a mayhen they say it was new beging not that end.

back to the samarins basically the anukia helped them EVOLVE? seeing the link? we'll you should be? planet x? anukia? evolve? you should see where this is going? if you dont well pm me for an even more detailed anwser

I used to believe in it; mostly because I was a paranoid kid who didn't know how to research things before dis/agreeing with it. Global warming may be real, yes, but we can't say that the effects are going to happen at an insane rate that will destroy the world in two years. Solar flares are strong, yes, but they won't be destroying the magnetic field protecting us any time soon. Sure, they may wipe out our satellites and limit our technology, but it's not like that's going to kill us. Religious-wise? I'm not very religious, so I don't believe in those half-assed stories about the apocalypse or a savior with over9000 arms coming down from the clouds to pick us up with his palms the size of Russia. I don't believe in Jesus Christ coming down to save us from Satan.

Let's also note that modern day society was stupid enough to think that the y2k would end the world.

There is a proof as to when the world is going to be destroyed. For example, in 3 billion years time our sun will explode as part of its life cycle. That is a set date that nothing will live past. So stop saying there no one knows, we don't know the exact time and date we'll die, but we do know the longest time we have to life. Thus we only have a X amount of time to live.

This isn't the first time people have predicted the end of the world to be in a few years. In the past people have freaked out over shit that never even happened.

I have a statement on the Mayan calender theory. When they stopped making the calender, I'm pretty sure no one has questioned them as to why they stopped on 2012. It wasn't but a few years ago that people started freaking out about the Mayan calender ending in 2012.

This is just my opinion. There have been multiple conspiracies and disasters that were "supposed" to kill off all man-kind. We are still living strong today, and I don't believe man-kind will end anywhere in my lifetime.

For all of the people who believe we will die in 2012, I'm sorry if I offended you. But the "proof" they have now on the world ending, is not enough proof to make me believe... Sorry.

I really don't see how someone could actually think a hurricane could wipe out life on earth. Get real.

It's just a conspiracy theory not saying I believe in it but many people do you can go online and find thousands of pages of this.

A hurrican wouldn't be the end of the world.

You obviously didnt read my post correctly, @Slik I never said it would be, I'm saying those who believe the world with end in December 21 2012 will start to get terrified if their is a big problem such as hurricane.

Someone tried to convice me that the reason chinese people are smart in regards to math is because of a government experiment. I think that tops the hurricane one.

I know you didn't say it would be the end, I am just stating that it is very small threat to the world. It would in no way end all life on earth, such as that which is claimed. I was hinting that a hurricane is a bad example.

What does that have anything to do with it?

I don't believe either of them. I was saying the chinese experiment is a lot more ridiculous.

More like the "Due Date": December 21st,2012 :P nothing is going to happen, if we have a big problem like another tsunami or hurricane, its pretty much like all of the years before. So its like those who think its true, will really start to spaz out when they find out about a huge hurrican hitting the south around December of 2012.Not to be crude.

I agree with this, people will freak over nothing because its "2012" :D
