Well I'm sure many of you have heard all the news about WikiLeaks recently.
What do you think about the complete situation?

To be honest, I think it's great, and so is the founder.
Pretty sad how they're trying to arrest him at the moment. On the end it's the governments own fault, they're the ones who lied to the citizens. Lies always come to an end.

I don't think its just him doing all of this. There's obviously a group of people doing this (that are high up in many countries) releasing these sensitive documents. Anyways they got the guy on sex charges (which is retarded in my opinion). It's just an excuse to try and prevent more from being released.

It's also quite obvious that the American government is threatening EveryDNS to keep the original Wikileaks domain offline.
WikiLeaks says it's a heavy DDoS-attack, but that's hardly believable since everyDNS is world's biggest domain manager loolol

@ Rog3r, for sure.
People feed him with the information. They're trying to get him for raping, but that's just a bad excuse.
I've never seen Interpol trying to arrest a raper this bad looololol, not even a raper who has raped up to 20 children in a day.

^^They have probably been waiting for him to sneeze in public and say thats littering just to lock him up...

But I think if the government didn't make it such a big deal most people could care less, in the long run, as to what it actually says and nobody wants to sit and read all the documents. Cause wasn't there like a shit-ton of them?

So basically they are arresting him for posting stuff like this?

Cablegate: 250,000 US Embassy Diplomatic Cables

2010-11-28
On Sunday 28th Novembre 2010, Wikileaks began publishing 251,287 leaked United States embassy cables, the largest set of confidential documents ever to be released into the public domain. The documents will give people around the world an unprecedented insight into the US Government's foreign activities.

War Diary: Iraq War Logs

2010-10-22
The 391,832 reports ('The Iraq War Logs'), document the war and occupation in Iraq, from 1st January 2004 to 31st December 2009 (except for the months of May 2004 and March 2009) as told by soldiers in the United States Army. Each is a 'SIGACT' or Significant Action in the war. They detail events as seen and heard by the US military troops on the ground in Iraq and are the first real glimpse into the secret history of the war that the United States government has been privy to throughout.

I'm saying that somebody has too if they want the "best" news material, they aren't just going to say something that is already known, or that another source has released. But I'm sure the government already has some kind of leverage over the news channels and they won't be releasing anything that the government hasn't approved.

You seem to be misunderstanding certain things. The leaked information isn't just about USA, it's about many other countries too, including mine.
I'm pretty much talking about my own country all the time, not even USA.

That is not a valid reason to arrest him.
Governments and Interpol know it isn't, that's why they're trying to get him into prison for possibly raping a women, which is not true according to himself.

the person who leaked it doesn't deserve this, when Nixon was lying to the people of the united states saying he was gonna pull out soldiers, and the pentagon papers where released and stated that he was ordering more force to be taken, it proved that you cannot trust the government and i think all public records must be released, no matter how harsh only reason why files should not be released is for security purposes.

He's a domestic terrorist, it is all good to have knowledge about things going on in the government but you also have to recognize the severity of sensitive information that was on their that could possibly cause harm to soldiers, civilians, and international relationships and security with other countries. This whether or not you realize it puts every single one of you in danger in some way that is what people fail to realize. They're many documents that the public should know don't get me wrong but when some of the documents include some of the possible whereabouts of Bin laden and other Al-Quada leaders and international ties ect it causes danger. It's not just harmless information or what the government would rather us not know. Also don't get me wrong, I have not read through the documents only short glances so I'm not an expert in this but I do believe they're some documents based on what I've read is in their that I believe shouldn't be made public.

Bluntly he is holding the lives of American informers in Afghanistan hostage to make sure that he is not arrested for rape in Sweden.

The 1.3-gigabyte file, distributed through file-sharing services this summer and protected with an unbreakable 256-bit encryption key, contains full versions of all the U.S. documents received by WikiLeaks to date – including those that have been withheld from publication or have had names and details removed in order to protect the lives of spies, sources and soldiers.

Source; Only the registered members can see the link.

Also that source is supplied previously in this thread.

People claim its good and legal because Freedom of the press or Information act, the public release of some of the documents in there is none other than domestic terrorism at its best, these documents due have laws protecting this classified information and it shouldn't be released to the public which could endanger lives or relationships with countries dramatically.

Sure a few petty lies and a few views into what's going on isn't fine but when they release, military documents, people who are working over there on the NATO pay roll who can initially be compromised then that's were you need to realise what is going on. Yeah I am. Even if you're right, I could care less.
I'd rather see all these things about the governments leak out at once instead of all slowly every year. If it goes slowly ppl will be like "oh fuck this government, stuff keeps leaking" and creates more madness.
Happened to our govy lolll

You do relieze there are a fuckload of back handers and major influences on trade in general between countries, expossing such 'bribes' if you will, will literally put trade at risk. Exportation in many countries is what keeps them in positive GDP therefore it is vital for the recovery stage we face. This is so significant, above all people don't even comprehend the seriousness of this.

You currently live in a world where you think issues like these do not matter, you haven't yet begun to contribute to the tax revenue the government controls, so what they are spending money on has very little influence on you. However, one day you will in one way or another contribute with your own money and you'll being to 'care' what is happening to your money.

You didn't watch the whole video did you...
That's war, always been like that.

WikiLeaks Reveals hidden/leaked military info, which in my opinion, is wrong hiding information from THEIR own citizens.
Although if released to much, people would just freak out.

I think its good, if Americas embassies are stupid enough to allow this to get hacked then it should be published... I also think its disgraceful that the American government is willing to change various laws just to arrest one person and demanding from other countries when its its politicians have been bitching behind other world leaders backs lol. To be frank i believe the European Union should intervene and tell America where to stick it :P

What? Not all the leaked information came from America, a large amount came from U.K operations, as well as many other countries. You must understand that anyone can leak information as long as it meets the standards of wikileaks and is true, many people in the armed forces have been inspired to leak intel. The Europeon Union is up to their neck with corruption, lol. The United States have a massive influence on the Europeon Union so I don't see much happening anytime soon.

Please do your research and learn what you are talking about before you post it guys... Reading through some of these responses are utterly ignorant and misinformed.

i support wikileaks because government shouldn't keep lies from its own people + the 11 people killed, the media said they were terrorist, which is wrong, they were civilians with kids

Yes it came from around the world, because it came from Americas embassies that are based in the majority of countries. Yes every single country that got "bithed" upon got hurt, After all they "bitched" about our royal family

Did i say that the European union would do anything? no i said what they should do. The European union has very little powers over countries and if Julian assange was in france, italy or spain i can guarantee he wouldnt be deported. Sadly hes residing in GB under a torey government :/

Are you shitting me? I can't believe you mentioned spain of all countries. You can't guarantee anything so don't make false claims. All it would take would be a boycott of trade to those countries and they'll deport him in an instant. Spain which almost collapsed is so dependant on the loans handed out to them that they have no choice in such matters.
