View Full Version : So this is what happens when you fix a computer...

Ok, so recently one of my close friends from college gave me his broken HP DV9700 Widescreen laptop. The computer didn't turn on, and wouldn't respond to anything. So i did a little research online, and inside the computer, and found some pretty "lol fail" stuff, well first i found the cause of the problem, a shitty 2g ram that was made in korea. But the ram didn't start acting up because of korea's fault, it was messing up because of some dumb idea HP developers designed. What happened was, the internal temperature on the computer, would not only melt the ram, but also the Nvidia graphics card. So basically you have a dead computer. So i replaced the graphics card, took out the ram (still need to buy a new one), and then attempted in transferring odds and ends from another broken laptop. The result was the computer works, but its extremely slow with the ram card.

It gets better then that, I've always wondered what boys really look at, or do on their computers, and lets just say...i'm sorry i looked. I found some really hilarious & disturbing things(This computer has a webcam on it, and i could see some recorded bits loled). && Honestly... if you are going to watch stuff on the internet, atleast delete all the cookies, forum information, and data searches saved on your hard drive...because anyone with a common computer knowledge can see all the stuff you look at

Anyways, any ideas on ram size or a specific id for one, that would work with an HP DV9700 laptop?

Thanks :p

its $30 to replace it with another one identical to this, but i kinda want to get a really good one, since it will most likely replace my currently shitty laptop that goes bsod because of a pirated windows 7 lol

thats one old piece of shit, lol. Well depending on what you want to do with the laptop, it depends on how much ram you want. for just surfing the web just get maybe like max 4gb, for gaming ect, go for higher

Black Diamond is the orginal ram model for that laptop

Edit : i will let you know what ID/model you should get for that specific laptop

Edit Edit : I just searched the model of that laptop, and 2 years ago in grade 12 we put linux on those laptops and we hacked eachother for a project ;)

Im suprised it actually accepted that korean ram, the only ram model available for that laptop model is Black Diamond(Recommended), witch goes up to 2gb with 2 slots, so max is 4gb. hope this helped

HP DV9700 Widescreen laptop

I found the problem.

Don't buy an HP and expect it to work.

Seriously though, try this:

This is real RAM that'll actually work.
