Personally I don't think that any "original" Illuminati followers [Obvy not the ones from the 1800's; I mean their great great grand children.] exist today. Most people who claim to be part of the Illuminati are home grown, fed off of websites and movies..

i personally think its real i mean when i first heard about illuminati i didnt give a fuck i thought it was fake then i done more research and found the most horrific things and the video i watched really help me learn about the music industry go to youtube and type farhank501 watch all of his music industry videos it really opened my eyes and saw the truth but its not just the music industry theres many many things that are going on right in the coner of your eyes you just gotta look closer

The Illuminati is very real, They do "control" many things in the way we govern the United States as well as World order and finance, In fact according to many top historians, The real organisation was founded by Adam Weishaupt who was converted to Catholicism after being raised of Jewish faith. Adam Weishaupt joined the Freemasons, the Illuminati was a Secret Society within a Secret Society. Its members infiltrated Masonic Lodges and took over control of Lodges all over the world. They also infiltrated and controlled many Universities.The Illuminati is a group of Elite politicians and bankers who work for a greater (Some will argue darker) cause and world order. The theory of the Illuminati being dangerous and evil is still up for debate but none the less it is a very real and very lucrative organisation which has played a big part in the History of the United States, from our four fathers, to Slavery and the Ku Klux Klan, along with Wall Street, and Adolf Hitler and the Nazi's in World War 2.

I look forward to debating with members as well as learning a bit more about this organisation by myself.

i do think that they exist, and theres a LOT of stuff to prove that they are. First of all, look at the $1 bill. I would think its one of the most common things the average person would have. Look at it though, on the back, it has the pyramid with the all seeing eye, which is something that represents the illuminati. Also, look at this:

As you say here, reading about this over the internet will most likely give 100% speculation/ rumors your best bet would be something more in the way of books. As you said its a secret society within a secret society.

The Illuminati was founded in the late 1800's by a man mentioned by Zykev above, Adam Weishaupt. Many people only seem to recognize them by the 'conspiracy' theories. Go on YouTube and there are even conspiracy theories about the Illuminati being involved with Runescape which is quite a claim. However people have become so obsessed with pointing out the signs. From my knowledge the illuminati are people who rank higher than the President of United States himself, They control the economy, wars - hell, they decide when a war starts and finishes from what I have been reading recently.

They're also well known to be in connection with assassinations of high ranking politicians (i.e. Abraham Lincoln); why? Maybe they didn't want to follow the Illuminati's beliefs and they paid the price for it. The modern conspiracy theories range from them being involved in gaming industries to the music industry. People have accused Lady GaGa, Chipmunk etc of being apart of the Illuminati for their actions in music video's such as the triangle over the eye. Most of this can be found on YouTube.

Do I believe in them myself. I do; to what extent? I am not sure - as you know hoax's seem quite popular regarding the Illuminati. If anyone is actually interested I can try to compile an information post provided by multiple sources.

In order for the rich to maintain their wealth, the poor must remain poor. If you have ever looked into global economics, the history of global lending and borrowing you will see how ignorance has been so severly exploited with regularity organisations turning a blind eye to loans made in the past designed to ensure continious poverty, such as the loans made to Brazil.
