Obsidian is easy to make. Lul - Me and Marc found 2 skeleton spawners literally within 10 blocks of each other on our first night. ;D

Its really flexible in that it allows you to be very creative in what you build. Building entire cities, skyscrapers, huge megalithic cannons, are not outside the scope of possibilities. If you haven't tried it once, then I highly suggest that before claiming its 'lame'.
