View Full Version : Sub-Religion: Why is your religion right?

I know there is a Religion topic already created. But this is more of a sub-section of the debate, and I want to know something else besides the general debate of Religion.

First, I'd like to state I'm agnostic. I don't have a central belief on Religion. But today I was just wondering to myself, there are plenty of major religions out there. Right? Such as Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Shinto, Buddhism, Confucianism, etc. But what makes YOUR religion right comapared to the other? I hear a lot of Christians in my school discussing the religion, and sometimes annoying me to hell about, well, "going to hell." But I always ask them, how do you know your religion is right compared to, say, Hinduism.

I don't want any flaming. I'd just like to hear the opinions of you guys. Any glimmer of flaming, and I'd make sure this topic gets removed. Although, intelligent debate is something I'd like to see. This is an intelligent debate, not some place to come cry over someone else when they annoy you. Please make sure your brain is activated before clicking the "Reply" button. Thanks!

i don't believe in anything because there is no proof of a god, Unless you take a persons opinion as truth, Someone made the bible and if you believe him well good for you, but without REAL evidence then i believe there is no god.

Before saying anything, i will say that this thread will get locked in a week or so after its more active. This is basically a Religion vs Religion thread.

Now onto real things.

@The Wiz, such as?
In Christian-ism(?) It says Jesus came back from the dead... HOW is that right?
I admit, in my Religion, Hinduism, there are a few stories that are a bit... fake? But everyone seems to believe that Jesus just came back from the dead.
Who wrote the bible? ( i may be wrong about this part) Some random Christian people?

How can there be FACTS? I mean, writing a book when people were more gullible at times isn't too hard. My belief is that people created hell to scare people into their hands.

I agree with half of the thing.
Some people wrote about their beliefs in a book, and here we are hundred(?) thousands(?) of years later, treating the book like it was written by a god. A person cannot come back from the dead, and thats been proven, so don't even argue about that. Religions are basically stories that the adults of that time told their children, and the children carried it on until now, and now we treat it likes its reality. It's okay to believe in a religion, i do, but its not okay to put your whole life into it. (opinion-wise ofc)

Aethiest.

did you notice which section your in?
Intelligent Debate.
Debate about something, or atleast act intelligent.
Not utter bullfuck.

You're fucking dumb, get off this thread since you have nothing to offer even to this section.

Christian, its right because all the facts come together.

And how do the facts come together - and who says they're even facts? There are tons of contradictions in the bible for a quick reason on why the facts don't come together. Give actual reasons before posting.

Now, I'm Agnostic(A person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena; a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God.) and the reason I believe that is because all other religions seem ridiculous to me, and either have too many contradictions, ridiculous stories, or are just down right dumb(Yeah I'm talking about you Scientology.). It's correct that we will never know anything for fact about the nature or existence of God so why become a religion that has a ton of flaws in it's points or 'stories'?

First off,

Only the registered members can see the link. 55_s.jpg

I am Atheist because, unlike most people who claim (*Cough* *Cough* Acrylix) to be Atheist, I have several reasons.

On the personal side:

I've gone through some pretty damn harsh stuff in the past. Where was *god* or *jesus* when I needed them? The answer: absolutely no where.
When I've gone to events such as funerals, I become deeply concerned for the other people whom are attending state of mind. "God floated down from heaven to his bedside as he was dying, picked him up, and carried him back. Sound's pretty damn pedo to me, personally
I think that we as a race are honestly just afraid of not having a purpose. A reason why. A scapegoat. Whatever you want to call it, I think that the concept of god was created in order to give us a "reason why".
Are you really going to tell me that there's a big man sitting in a chair deciding who dies first? Give me a break .

Personally my god is music. That's what's kept me alive during my darkest days :3.

On the more scientific side:

I believe in quantum mechanics. Unlike god, quantum mechanics can be tested and proven to be true. There is also no “proof” of god. There is, however, proof of strings and demensions.

I'm Agnostic for the same reasons. Haha.

It's just to me, it seems reasonable and most likely there's a higher being who created us but.. Yeah.
