View Full Version : Too Much Electronics?

It's the 21st Century.
Electronics are no extraordinary things. Did you know you spend 90%+ more time using a electronic device in your whole lifetime?
Phones, Laptops, and more devices coming.
Most kids these days don't go outside at all.
Are Electronics ruining most of our world? No, I'm not saying go be hippies and not use electronics AT ALL, but i'm saying during your whole day your with a device that connects you to the outside world 24/7, should we continue to do this? should we reduce the use on the internet.
This thread is not about "SAVING THE PLANET", but its about saving future generations. If we use our computer this much today, imagine how much our children will use?
Discuss.

What? 90%+ only?! I've got to unlock that 'be 100% time online per day' achievement!!
But seriously, I don't think there is an issue. In 14th century it was "okay" to take your ballista and invade the neighbour kingdom. I imagine a couple hundreds of years later someone even said "our kids no longer think about fighting for their castle anymore! We must do something!"
This is the inevitable process of evolution, one kind of activity replaces another and people change to fit the new ways of life. One day you’ll read a book about how kids in the 21st century used to play football once in a while, and laugh badly thinking as to "why the hell one would do that".
So meh, we're fine.
P.S. Damn, this is my first post! :( This reset has taken away everything from me! All those days online... Nooo!

I'm a kid and I go outside daily, get good grades in high classes, play at least 1 sport per season, and use electronics at least 4 hours daily. Nothing is bad for you in moderation. The only bad thing is people who over use electronics. At least in my area, that's not common.

In my mind, there will be a virtual life system, to where you can like, install a usb port in the back of your head, and go in to the life of virtual reality, just like in Futurama. Then masturbating for you, Shishir, will be the greatest thing, and pornhub.com will be your local venue.
On Topic:
I don't think it will be a problem.

Do us all a favour and trun off your computer then burn it. Stupid kid making up facts if we spend 90% of our time on a electronic device when im going to become a electronic bed salesmen, it would seem as if they must be doing well.

Uhm... 90 percent i don't think so. You're trolling and making shit up. Doesn't matter how long we use our computer it won't affect our children...... Please learn what you're talking about.

approximately 2/3 americans are obese.
obese means you probably won't/don't go outside, meaning your inside, doing what? on a electronic device. Since most of America is just filled with fatasses today, they're either watching TV, on the computer, sleeping(less likely) or on a mobile device.
Meaning half their life they'll probably be around a electronic device and be using it.
90% yeah i think so kid, me saying 90% wasn't the best and the most accurate approximating but its around there somewhere.
It will affect our children, lets say you weigh 800 pounds you somehow have a kid.
the kids gonna keep fucking eating like you, and become obese, and so on with the whole generation, so i'm basically encouraging fatasses to get their..fat..ass? outside?

You are thinking about this the wrong way. How is it the electronics fault that the users of them over use them? Electronics has nothing to do with it. It's the stupidity of humanity that is at fault.
There are PLENTY of people that can cope with using electronics a lot, and still going outside, and maintaining their lives.

Sorry but you cannot use a statistic on obesity towards a debate on electronic items to back up your first point. Obesity can be a factor but you are forgetting electronic devices are used in everyday life, therefore many people who are not obese who are using these devices.
For example, a girl I know constantly texts and uses facebook yet she manages to maintain her life and keep fit.

It is intresting how no one seems to mention how fitness equipment can also be electrical. Don't follow stereotypes, mentioning electronics doesn't mean every user is fat. I use a tredmill on a regular basis, it is an electronic piece of equipment, justify that.

The best fitness equipment doesn't need electricity. Dumbbell, barbell, free weights, your legs for running, and what ever else you want to do with them.

Being obese doesn't mean you're not active. It means you eat fucked up shit.
I'm on the bigger side, but I sure as hell can out run you any day.

I never once said the BEST fittness equipment uses electricity, I just mentioned that there are electrical excercising machines out there, such as a treadmill or a cross trainer, which isn't much of a electrical machine per say, but it does use electricity. My point isn't that it is better, but that there are equipment out there that use electricity that can be used to keep you fit.
I however agree with what you say, I use both but most of the time I use non electrical devices.

The electronics aren't "fucking people up", the businesses and corparations exploiting the demand by kids is the deciding factor. You don't want to take away the electronics, you want to take away the exploitation.
If there is a demand, there will be a business to exploit it.

You guys are just thinking of electronics that are bad for you and time consuming. What about the electronics that are improving life? Treadmills, Computers (for scientific reasons, and research), and even televisions can be important for getting information. I guess you could say electronics are great, but the way we use them is not. It is our fault, not the electronics.

i do think manyyyyy people overuse electronics, i know people that are on the computer for like 15-19 hours a day.. they will cut into sleep just to play on a computer or 360 or something, its pretty discusting tbh.. i do think humanity will be 99% fatties (yes i said fatties :]) by 2020 at this rate..
