THIS IS THE FUCKING INTELLIGENT DEBATE SECTION, IF YOU HAVE NOTHING INTELLIGENT TO SAY, GO BACK INTO YOUR IMMATURE SECTION.
Well, My World History teacher and the class were having a discussion about whats going to happen?
Obama is getting all the credit for killing Osama, and he may get re-elected for this reason, alone.
What do you guys think? Will he get re-elected because of this ONE event? or no?
Debate on!

(MY OPINION) it sucks but yes i am about 80% sure he will win again :(
I don't believe Obama should get the credit (even thought he sent the men) i think the guy who got him should get millions of dollars and should get 100% credit.

I hate republicans too much to not vote for him. Research Reganomics and you will see my point.
I don't think that Obama should get ANY credit for Osama's death. ALL the credit goes to the Navy Seals who where part of the mission.
I honestly don't think that Obama will get re-elected though, because I, and many other Americans, feel that he hasn't done his job well, and that he's done more harm than good with the country.

Obama should get credit, he was the one who had to give the permission to go ahead, they didn't have undeniable proof that he was in there and if he wasn't and they kill a bunch of innocent civilians or nobody important then he just caused a heap of trouble in the middle east for the United States and its all on his head. He shouldn't get all the credit however.

Obama didn't do shit -- it was the brave Navy Seals that carried out the mission.
Obama gave permission to the Seals. Big. Fucking. Whoop.
@Zykev,
Actually the had near undeniable evidence from KSM. Which is lul'sy to me seeing as most people were against Gitmo and now the only reason we GOT this information is because KSM was detained at Gitmo.
They were also working with the Pakistani government.

This isn't a debate on which political party is better. The debate is whether or not people think that Obama will be re-elected.

I think that he's taking way too much credit for this, and that his peers are going to give him too much credit for this in order for him to be reelected.
On the other hand; now that the initial shock is over about Osama being dead, people are starting to question things. It ought to be a pretty interesting scenario.

I do not think that this will effect his re-election. If you look back to 9-11.. right after all of that went down Bush's approval rating spiked to an all time high (historically) but, after the months went by and time went on.. his approval rating started to drop back to normal. Due to the next election being in 2012 there is plenty of time for his rating to go back to normal and as time goes on... drop even further due to his unfulfilled promises. So, you ask.. "Will he get re-elected for this ONE event?" most likely, no... he will have to do much more for the economy and increase the standard of living much more to have much of a chance in 2012.

Well what my World History teacher told me is..
USA intercepted a messenger of Al Quieda a few years back, and found who he was instead of taking him, they followed him, and over the couple of years, they followed where he went, and this time he went to Osama, and they found him there, is what my History teacher told me, is that accurate or totally wrong?

If Obama wins another election, humanity as we know it is over. Because I don't think America is strong enough to handle another one of Obama's "Awesome stimulus package". As for him being re-elected just for the fact he gave the OK to go in after Usama, shouldn't have anything to do with the fact that he has fucked us many times. One good decision shouldn't affect the other 200,000+ shitty decisions he has made.

All he has too do is keep reminding people about this, and lie like he did originally. Unless some serious shit comes up proving that his role in this was not as large as it being made out too be, he will definitely benefit from this come election time. This is a huge deal, and I don't see it settling down any time soon.

Most people don't realize that (idiots). Although, he did send the Seals - that doesn't matter, the Navy should still take the credit. Partially, the Seal who first shot Osama should take the credit, but of course no one really cares. Most people give Obama the vote.
I think he'll get re-elected, since Osama caused so much harm and shock, and now every is relieved. Many people were scared of what would happen next; but now they don't have to be. Well, yes they do, but they don't worry about Osama any more.

I agree with parts of this, but I don't think the first guy to shoot him deserves any more credit than the other guys on the mission. They went in as a team, and completed their mission successfully.
Think of it this way. If the guy who shot him first went solo to kill Osama, he'd have been killed quickly. It was a group effort used to take down a horrible man.

I agree, the group killed others on the way up the building, Osama was on the highest floor (besides the roof, where there were people also)
on the way there, they killed many others... not just 1 person.

But its not what hes SAYING, its logic.
People are already beginning to think about re-election because of ONE event that went GOOD during his first term.

Yeah. It would be stupid for him to claim all the credit. But I wasn't sure if he was claiming any.

Every politician, including Obama, that voted and worked towards this operation deserves credit.
The thing is, the Navy are just chess pieces in the hands of Obama. Of course, you can't have a chess match without chess pieces, they are really important; but in the end of the day, who was the mind behind the pieces, and who deserves credit? I'm sure you won't credit the chess pieces for the victory, but rather the chess player, right? And that is exactly what Obama is, a chess player. He played chess with the navy, against bin Laden, and won. Therefore, he deserves credit.
Also, if the thing went wrong, they wouldn't blame the navy soldiers, they would blame Obama. If he has to put up with the consequences, it is only equally fair that he receives credit.

I would like to say what I saw in the news how they showed how Barrack Obama had so much to do with this. I mean come on they have been trying to get this guy for about 10 years now. They kept saying with Obama ok they went and got him. Also how the Europeans(I forgot who) said congratulations Obama... So there is a high chance that he will get reelected again unless he does something stupid.

Touche. But, I doubt Obama was the one giving instructions to the soldiers. Whoever co-ordinated the operation is the "chess player". Obama just told the team to do the mission. He didn't tell them how to do the mission. There's a big difference.
History has shown that the economy is the leading factor in incumbent reelection. For example, (I know I've said this before) George H. Bush (the first one) had a 89% approval rating after the Persian Gulf war, which insanely high. However, he was not reelected even with this huge benefit, due to the poor economy. The highest approval rating Obama has had is a 69% and again, the economy is trash, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Congressman Broun said "I also commend President Barack Obama, our Commander in Chief, for authorizing this strategic operation..."
So technically Obama was the one that "started" the mission, he doesn't necessarily deserve credit for killing Osama, but he definately does for the plot to kill him.
I'm not really sure that Obama will get re-elected. Many people wanted change, that's why he was elected in the first place. He barely did any changes.

You have a good point with the economy. In my opinion this is half the reason that Obama got elected in the first place, so with the current state of the economy he wouldn't be re-elected. Not to be rude, but you aren't even from the US are you?
I found a website that said the following:
"Declaring War
The United States has not formally declared war since World War II. Under Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution, Congress has sole power "to declare war [and] grant letters of marque and reprisal." But Article II, Section 2 provides that "The president shall be Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States." While it's clear that the Framers intended for Congress alone to declare war, presidents don't always check with Congress before acting. After President Harry Truman bypassed Congress to go to war in Korea, presidents have paid almost no attention to the constitutional requirements."
You say the people who deserve the credit are the military commanders, but.. Isn't Obama the Commander-in-Chief?
Obama surely was not the people "doing the research"
No President ever should have to do "research"
Being the President is known as one of the most stressful jobs in the world. They don't need to add Researching to that list, their not highschool students, they run a nation. There's people that do the Research, but the President knows all about it, so Obama probably does have some kind of part in this.

And I completely agree. Economy is and always will be a huge part that a president is either praised for, or bashed for. Obama has been bashed ever since he's been elected in because of the bad economy, and I could only hope it doesn't effect it TOO much, though there's a high chance it will.

Three: Stop acting like you know shit about politics, because you obviously don't know anything.
I don't know why the hell you keep bringing up me being in eighth grade. That has absolutely nothing to do with shit.
A local company of Fox News is a partner/company of Fox News. I just posted one excerpt of Fox News.

It's obvious if you look at prior posts of mine that I'm refering to the actual Fox News Channel.
They're partners, yes, however, the local companies don't report on national news except when it's something truly major. They're also not as firm in their views than the actual companies -- the anchors and employees are normally just normal people. On the Fox News Channel, however, the anchors normally have political experience.

It's not really obvious, you never stated anything of Fox News channel. But I don't care.
It's people like you that get so heated over some little debate.
back on topic, Obama didn't kill Osama, he didn't give authorization, he just gave authorization to start a mission.. Like I stated before, this debate would need some statistics to back it up.

a bit off topic here, but age has nothing to do with how much knowledge you have/know.
Specially now-a-days
Kids are on the computer, and soon as you go on abc.com, cnn.com etc you see the things happening and people usually read it. correct? So infact, Dean MAY know about politics and world conflict.
I can shoot your comment right back at you, Divine, i don't know how old you are, but I can say that... You'd need to be a politician to TRULY know about politics.
Fox News is definitely not the "BEST" news channel/website out there.
I prefer more like... CNN and ABC...

From the post that you quoted, I failed to see the point in which Divine said that age has something to do with intelligence.
(MY OPINION) it sucks but yes i am about 80% sure he will win again :(
I don't believe Obama should get the credit (even thought he sent the men) i think the guy who got him should get millions of dollars and should get 100% credit.
What about the one who said Osama was at that city, or the squad/crew that helped him?

Obama doesn't call the shots, he can't even declare war. The people who deserve credit are the military commanders and the ones who spent the time doing the research, not Obama.
Not to be rude, but you aren't even from the US are you?
Unfortunately, no.
It doesn't matter if there were other people involved. If he said no, it would be a no. He said yes, had civils get killed and not Osama, he'd be blamed by the people.

Will he get re-elected because of this ONE event? or no?
Debate on!
Your teacher knows shit....because what I just heard is totaly bullshit, Obama is the best thing that happen to America why would they want to re-elect...even if they did Obama would win...

No; politicians know less about politics than even the child in the ghetto.
What politicians know is backstabbing, lying, talking their way out, and laying on their asses while people suffer.

In my opinion this whole thread sounds wierd, im from uk.. I dont know much about Obama..
It think he should get credit... Think of it as a sport, like football, if the manager says, run on the left hand side, do a tripple backflip and score, then that person does it, surely the manager gets credit.
It seems to me more of you hate him cos he said yes, it's no big deal.. He said yes, i saw his speech it didn't look like he was taking lots of credit.
Think how hard president must be.. Give him some slack for fuck sake.

completely agree, he should get SOME of the credit, not ALL, but some... If Obama said "NO" then the mission wouldn't have even taken place...

I didn't read the thread, mostly because I'm lazy, and more reason for the idiots. The fact of the matter is, before this while news flash, his approval ratings were horrible, even with this, it's barely 50% approval, and with the refusal to release evidence, the shady burial, the suspicious insta DNA tests (Yes, it takes more then a few hours for a conclusive DNA comparison), and the ever changing stories of what happened within the compound, people will begin to suspect foul play in this story, even that it is purely false and/or late news for an event that actually happened years ago. Then people will unblind themselves from the dropping economy, and once again, approval ratings will plummet, things will be done wrong, we'll spend even more, and by 2012, if he hasn't been assassinated, impeached, his campaign will fail miserably.
I find the whole Osama has been killed thing right around election time suspicious in it self, alongside every contradicting, shady story and aspect of the event.

Just thought i'd put this in.. the day Osama died, is also the day Hitler died :P
Well anyways on topic...
As i said before, we have to think of this through AVERAGE US citizens. Who got Obama onto the Presidency in the first place, and there's nothing that would make me think that they wouldn't do it again. I do think that their doing right by NOT releasing pictures of a dead body. It's just wrong. Yes it does make people go.. was he REALLY killed? how can we know for sure? but if you think about it..
If Osama somehow gets out if their keeping if they are keeping him, then think of what would happen to America as a whole.
Obama would probably be the #1 hated man in the USA if not the world... and the USA as a whole would lose any reputation they have.
It'd be shameful, and they probably wouldn't risk going through that to just... fake a killing.

If you think that Obama's getting re-elected because he "killed" Osama, you need fucking mental help.
Obama didn't do shit -- it was the brave Navy Seals that carried out the mission.
Obama gave permission to the Seals. Big. Fucking. Whoop.
@Zykev,
Actually the had near undeniable evidence from KSM. Which is lul'sy to me seeing as most people were against Gitmo and now the only reason we GOT this information is because KSM was detained at Gitmo.
They were also working with the Pakistani government.
Not everyone thinks like you do.

Obviously Obama will win the election. Physically he may not have killed Osama , but he was one of the minds behind the plans of his death. He odered the CIA to put Osama in their #1 priority. Because the house that Osama was living in (Bilal Town , Abbotabad - I live near there) was being watched since mid-feb , pakistani intelligence had informed CIA that a HIGH VALUE target is located.
Technically Obama SHOULD win the next elections.
Some people don't even know is osama and his really name(we are being fooled by an underground guys)
for more information check the arrivals series on youtube.com and you will know what am talking about
this is just way to keep obama on
I agree with parts of this, but I don't think the first guy to shoot him deserves any more credit than the other guys on the mission. They went in as a team, and completed their mission successfully.
Think of it this way. If the guy who shot him first went solo to kill Osama, he'd have been killed quickly. It was a group effort used to take down a horrible man.
Yes, I totally agree.

Terrorist is one who brings terror to the people, hence the name.
Obama cannot attack a country, IF he finds a way to even think about attacking a country, he will begin a war.

Well obviously he's richer, i don't work, and he has about a few billion dollars.
Looks? No trust me, i look better. Unless your wanting to go against the law of aging..
Age = Wrinkles = Not Young

I'm probably pretty late. but any ways you guys really need to stop getting down on Obama. Understand this I took us 8 years for Clinton to get us out of recession after Bush Sr. got into it. It took Bush Jr. 8 years to get us into back into recession. at this point Obama is fixing us from that recession... Hes only been in office for 4 Years if he is re-elected . He could change and pull us out of recession again. SO JUST GIVE HIM A CHANCE AND WAIT
