Android.

More functionality (Widgets > Table of applications)

The HTC Desire and iPhone 4 have identical specification pretty much.

HTC Desire: £320 (Free phone at £25 /month)
iPhone 4: £650 (Free phone at £45 /month)

iPhone 4 is a rip off.

I have an iPod Touch, and a HTC Desire HD so i'm familliar with both operating systems.

I will definitely say that i prefer Android more. The speed is one thing, that's for sure. For example the difference between the Android Market and the Appstore, the Android market is WAY faster and takes way less time to load. I recommand you search on YouTube video's about the difference in speed, and the operating systems in general.

Have you rooted your Desire HD?

I've got the standard Desire and while it was pretty quick on HTC Sense it wasn't amazing and drank battery.

Quick root and ROM install and I'm running the bog standard gingerbread - battery can last 2-3x longer and the phone is mighty quick.

Don't even want to think about how fast the Galaxy S II and HTC Sensation are.
