So does the majority of RuneLocus have any mixed martial arts? If so answer yes to the poll and tell us what martial art it is; whether it be boxing, judo or any other.

Myself.

Yes, I've done Muay Thai from the age of 5 and was taught by my uncle who is my Master and is planning on doing a trip to thailand in the near future. I recently got into MMA fighting in the United Kingdom.

If you don't know any martial art's; what martial art would you like to / liked too of learned in you're life.

I've personally never learned anything, but if you want to fly to Canada and teach me some, I'd be more than happy to accept. :D

Ahh, I was taught for self defence mainly; but it sort of grew on as a hobby / sport for me. So I carried on training to the stage I am now. Thinking whether I should take the courses to become a Master and teach others.

Why'd they stop you? Martial Art's teach you respect and discipline. Most parents try to practically force that.

Of course they did, you're an annoying 12 year old kid.

Ontopic: I used to do kickbox, but I quit after 2 years.

@Emporer - Nice bro, I tried Kickboxing at the age of 9'ish. But I got too use to doing Muay Thai kicks I couldn't follow properly. Muay Thai uses the shin, Kick Boxing is with the foot, was hard for me to change how I executed the kick.

P.S - Sorry for double post, can a moderator please merge the 2 above.

Well, now that I think about it, I am learning Muay Thai, but not in any ideal way. I really want to learn kickboxing.

Kickboxing involves punching aswel, though I've never heard about Muay Thai, Mind explaining a bit more?

Oh, You self teaching yourself? It's pretty straight forward; If you use YouTube there are some tutorials on how to perfect one of the many kicks. Main thing with Muay Thai is you're breathing. You need to get it perfect to get the full power out of you're kicks.

And no offence to anyone... Muay Thai > Kickboxing - If you put a Thai fighter and a kickboxer in a ring and had them fight; the thai would end up destroying the kickboxers shins and ribs. They aren't trained to take such brutal kicks. Hence why you see people in UFC with 3+ martial arts behind them. Stick with Muay Thai.

True. I am teaching myself, I've only gone to YouTube a couple of times, I mostly watch A LOT of UFC and just perfect those moves.

And hell yeah Muay Thai > Kickboxing. But I'm an amputee due to cancer, and my leg is prosthetic so Kickboxing is WIN as shit for me.

Yeah; If you watch UFC videos on YouTube; You can find the full shows on Five's YouTube. Focus on the Muay Thai based fighters; watch how they throw every kick and how the put the momentum and breathing into it. It's hard to explain in words otherwise I'd help you as much as I can; I'll see if I can dig up camera and record me doing some training on the bags and put like some audio to it if you want too bro.

Muay Thai is similar in a way but a lot more brutal. Muay Thai groundwork was banned from the MMA and UFC because of how dangerous it was. In Thailand the tradition is to wrap you're fist's in rope; cover it with tree sap and broken glass. 2 fighters go in; 1 comes out alive. You'll understand if you've ever watched Ong Bak with Tony Jaa.

If you want to read up on it etc; here: Only the registered members can see the link.

Some video's etc for you good sir.

Yes it's called Ghetto Fist karate. Basically you just punch the guy one time, and knock him out. If one punch doesn't work kick him in the balls, and do it again.

Of course Muay Thai is better than kickbox. You can get disqualified in a tournament for punching/kicking too hard.. Wich is why I quit.

I did karate when I was young, my dad was a martial art instructor and my mom is a cop, so everything in my family is about fitness and defence. I started when I was about 6, when my mom put me in karate, I went into other sports when I was 10 and that was pretty much it for me..
Just staying in shape now and doing motocross, and when I have a break (litterally), I go to learning/programming on computers xD
