Member of the month.

Staff will pick 10 people for one month, and people will vote on who should be the RMOTM. (Regular member of the month)

I think this is going to be a popularity contest, like Mod Of The Month.

I remember when this was first tried, years ago, and Ikiliki was the only person to vote for me. I smiled and we got married... look at us now! :)

I still have pictures from your wedding. <3

But, no. This is just a popularity contest. Most of the members are complete twits and therefore don't see the difference between posting good quality posts and spamming RSPS-related shit.

This would mostly be for the older members, as if early 2008, to late 2009.

People wouldn't vote according to who posts the most qualitative stuff - they didn't the last time. Their reasons were, "he's cool"; "he's funny"; "i don't think he spams much". If you think there could be a way for us to control how people vote, go ahead and suggest it.

Well. It all depends. The moderators should be voted for performance, and how well they so their Job at moderating. Members should also be instructed as such.

Members who are nominated by staff should have:

- Helpful posts
- Informational items
- Non-spammed posts

or whatever the staff want to choose.

All right, and what would be the end result of this? Just a little boost for the winning member, or are you thinking a reward should be given?

Well, just like there's no reward for Mod of the Month.

The winner just gets pleasure in knowing people are noticing him/her.

Boasting, or boosting rights. Or, on special occasion, a new Sectional spot if they really deserve it (I'm starting to think the members should be picked out of one section. So, pick 10 sections, and then 1 person out of each section)

Or, if we could, have two or threads to have all the section + users. So it would be really fair for everyone.

The purpose of MOTM originally was to find out how members were finding moderators to be performing, and to some extent it succeeds in that aim, but for the majority of the time it is a popularity contest.

Example:

Four threads, containing 2-10 people for each sub section (Runescape private servers is a major section)

Pick 5 people out of this major section, 1 of each sub-section. They will usually have:

Good posts
Helpful
gives to the section
etcetc

RuneScape Private Servers

- General
- Help
- Tutorials
- downloads
- Client hacking

Should be able to post in all these sections. Have good posts, be able to direct others to different sub sections, if they are posting in the wrong section.

Real runescape

- General Disscussion
- Guides

Should be able to help others, and have atleast 1 guide containing good information about a Skill, or money-making.

Gaming

- General
- Playstation
- Xbox
- Nintendo.
- PC

For each section, they must know about the system, how it works, etc. They must be helpful to others that have questions

They cannot be single-tracked, (i.e "OMFG, PS3 IS TEH SHT. XB0X SUKS MAH CAWK")
But the are entitled to their opinion, as long as it's good.

Others

- Graphics
- Web Dev.
- Programming

I guess this one is self explanatory, should have some decent idea about each section.

So, overall. You should have...

15 people for RMOTM.

The reward will be decided by the Staff, and two Administrators. Boosting, or any special Reward is up the staff at this moment.

If there is a reward, they should be given a special colored name, since everyone is dieing for one.

Here's a scenario of what's gonna happen when this shit goes down, yo'.

1) Someone great who contributes quality posts and normally has a good intention for the community is nominated. His name is Matty.

2) People don't normally like Matty because they think he flames, despite the fact them being some of the largest hypocrites in the community.

3) The majority of people are hypocrites, so the majority of people will not be voting for Matty, despite him being the best option in the poll.

4) People see "Shishir G" and say, "hey, well, that guy is nice to me!", and vote for him.

5) This becomes entirely opinionated, and there is no voting for the best member, just whoever is nicest to them.

Lol'd, great example :p

But seriously it will be a popularity contest and people will not vote properly and just be like "OMG HE IS COOL I WILL VOTE FOR HIM"

We've discussed this multiple times. We've come to the same decision every time. No matter how the nominations are handled, it will be a hellfest. Trust me.
