Clean and simple is the way to go. All those kind of background images for some "advanced" looking are just plain useless and distracting.

People can just use anyone's IP and say it's online when it isn't.

I know it's idiotic to do that, but it happens.
That's their own resposibility and way to ruin their reputation.
When their server is offline, people cannot play. What's the point of faking an image to say "Online" when your server is actually offline? People can't play anyway, they'll leave, especially once they discovered you lied.

We volunteer our time to keep the site running and we don't get paid for it.

We have personal lives and work too. I for one am extremely busy with school work at the moment.

I know, but I thought you had setup the system already and all you needed was to add the new images? At least that is what i understood from iki's post.
