Only the registered members can see the link.
It seems to have the solution although it would take a very long time to recover everything.
Featured content:
A friend of mine nearly lost her entire website last month. She neglected to make a back up when she handed her site over to a web designer, and bam - nearly 5 years of content was gone in a flash! Luckily, we were able to retrieve most of the content using Google's cache.
What is Google's cache? Think of it as Google's back up. When Google examines a page to determine if it matches a search query, it saves a snapshot of the page.
Accessing Google's cache is useful if the webpage you want to view is down for some reason, if the owner or host has removed the page, or if the website is running slowly. To retrieve the content of a webpage, you can follow the steps outlined below.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
Computer
Internet Connection
Step 1
Open your web browser and go to Google.
Step 2
Gather all the pages from the target website. To do this, type site and colon and your website address, with no spaces. Click search.
Ex. site:Only the registered members can see the link.
You should now see all of the pages from your website listed.
Step 3
View the cache. There is the word "cached" printed next to each webpage. Click the cache link to open up a cached version of that page.
Step 4
Save the pages you need.

The Harddrive crashed which means you cannot recover it. (Atleast I dont think so)

I'm pretty sure your correct ;p

This isn't about recovering it from the computer its about recovering it from Google itself.
Example of recovering a page is this link: Only the registered members can see the link.
That is a recoverable version of toonshorty's thread made over a month ago.

Since it is mostly filled with un-downloadable PHP files and lots of database information, I'd assume the cache would only really be able to get you back all your static HTML files...and I don't think this server even has any of those.

You can only recover content with this. IE: Threads you lost
It won't solve anything for RuneLocus.

Actually, in one way this may be true, in another, so long as the hard drive isn't damaged you can always recover information.
Thus, if you're into fraud, hacking shit, illegal shit, and you're liek under investigation and shit, burn it lul, 2besafe

So you're telling us to try recover up to a million pages through Google Cache and manually store them into the database?
Dean
June 21st, 2010, 10:35
That would take a while, and from what I was told, they had backups, it's just that they weren't good, or something like that.

Weren't completed because the hard drive crashed during the backup generation.

That's what you say when you try to be a smartass, but fail because it's a linux dedicated server (CentOS to be precise).

Oh, i just presumed you would've used windows when it crashed, the chance of Linux crashing would seem very minimized compared to windows, is all.
Not trying to be a smartass ik, calm down bro.

Why don't you write a script to get back the old topics? Don't bother moving them back into their original boards, just put it all in a new category so people can get back their old tuts and repost them in the normal sections.
ps, to the above poster: you are a moron.

A script to get back old topics? are you fucking retarded? WHAT PART OF "HARD DRIVE CRASH" DO YOU NOT FUCKING UNDERSTAND?
Also, please elaborate on how I'm a moron?

Why don't you just read a few of the posts in the topic, rather than ignorantly declaring that because the HD has failed the data is unrecoverable.
I think that this is quite an ingenuitive idea tbh, but I doubt it'll actually get done for reasons we'll never get told.

They'd require a recover of every single user account too.

Because it's a stupid idea, to even think that google cache would do any good as a replacement for real threads is absurd.
Also, ingenuitive(Isn't a word btw)? like you've never heard of google caches before and this guy just mentioned them and you got a mind fuck?
It is very simple, these wouldn't be live threads, they would have googles footprints all over them, the user ids they were once upon a time linked to are no longer the same, take any of this into account?

They'd require a recover of every single user account too.
Just make it say the posters username without actually creating them an account. The only purpose of this would be to restore old data, not an attempt to restore the forums to their former state.
I suppose it would take a bit of work though, and I understand if you don't want to do it.
Above poster, you're making yourself look stupid so just shut up..
Edit: If you would like topics to be restored but don't want to waste time attempting to write a script that does that, I'll happily do it for you and prove the faggot above wrong.

I'm actually not, my points are all valid, every one of them.
once again, it's very simple, your illiteracy can't comprehend anything i say, understandable.
Edit: If people want to see old threads just to view them or etc, all they need to do is google "thread name" site:runelocus.com

You've already proven that you can't have a real argument without making stupid counterarguments that have no relevance (such as my grammer).
I can always try again, I suppose, but I know you'll just reply with something stupid and think you're right.
"Because it's a stupid idea, to even think that google cache would do any good as a replacement for real threads is absurd." - I didn't say it would replace threads, I said it would restore them so people can get back their old tutorials etc. Read my post properly.
"Also, ingenuitive(Isn't a word btw)? like you've never heard of google caches before and this guy just mentioned them and you got a mind fuck?" - No, I said it was a good idea to use the Google cache to restore topics, not OMG WUT IS THIS GOOGLE CACHE I'VE NEVER HEARD OF IT. Read my post properly.
"It is very simple, these wouldn't be live threads" - I didn't say they would be live. Read my post properly.
"they would have googles footprints all over them" - I didn't say they would have googles footprints all over them. If you were even semi-competent, you would know how to remove them. Read my post properly.
"the user ids they were once upon a time linked to are no longer the same, take any of this into account?" Again, this is not to restore the forums to their former state - it is a method of topic recovery. Read my post properly.

You've already proven that you can't have a real argument without making stupid counterarguments that have no relevance (such as my grammer). It wasn't a direct shot at your grammar
I can always try again, I suppose, but I know you'll just reply with something stupid and think you're right. I don't argue with bullshit, I'm posting with FACTS
"Because it's a stupid idea, to even think that google cache would do any good as a replacement for real threads is absurd." - I didn't say it would replace threads, I said it would restore them so people can get back their old tutorials etc. Read my post properly. You said "why not use a script to get them black" which basically says you think the forum can be restored via google cache
Refer to what you said above, it's not restoring topics, it's simple being able to re-visit them on google cache
Obviously you can remove them, however this is effort, effort that nobody needs to take time doing
Bolded is my replies.
You let your illiteracy get in the way of what you were trying to say basically, YES you can use google cache to view old threads, NO they are not suitable to be put back in runelocus, NO there is no way to put them back in the runelocus db.
I'm done arguing with you, it's like arguing with a mirror.
