Would you say that the busiest, most well knows members on here would get there server alot more players than someone who has joined just to advertise?
I'm just wondering really .

Not really no - Most people look at the server itself rather than the owner / creator. If a highly respected member from RuneLocus just hosted a leeched source; and then came along a newbie who created a whole new base from scratch and hosted it. It's obvious who would get the most interest.

I don't think it maters the post count, since the top posters on these forums, just post on every topic possible saying "cool, good luck, nice" ect. I think the popularity of a server depends not only on the programmer, but usually the features, and pictures of the server. It's all on first impressions =p

know because if you saw a big member with a delta server vs a new member with 1 post that made a really good hyperion server > the new member would obviously get more players

Strictly regarding popularity, I think it would make a difference. Let's say you saw in the advertisement section a server by Ikiliki or someone from the staff team, you'd automatically be more focused on clicking that link then the others.
If anything, it'd just make more people check out the advertisement thread which could lead to more hits. Hey, i'd probably even check it out regardless of how the server looks just because I respect or have heard of the name many times before.

I agree with Rog3r 100%.

@Rog3r, that is true; but not always. Many times people even join if the owner is popular and know them for a better chance at staff. I bet you 50% of the people who join servers go for staff. Although I would do the same(not staff part) but only if I've known or seen the name before(I.E Sick` - If he started a server(doubt that) I bet 30% of the community would join it since he is a moderator.)

I lurk the advertisement section, and the names of the people don't really affect whether I click it or not. I look at the names of the RSPS (I also look if they put crap like '150% GOSAWRDZ || DCLAW SPECZ', etc). It may affect the decisions of other members, but not me.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean.
I do that as well - i'm more interested in more professinal or unique names rather then those with weird alt characters and all caps. More professinal the better in my opinion. ;)

Lol why do you infer that servers created from scratch will always be better?
And yes it does matter especially for me >.>
