NOT SURE IF THIS IS RIGHT PLACE TO POST

What's the difference between a .Zip file and a .rar file i've seen most people put their servers/clients in .rar format but you need WinRAR to extract it and a .Zip file you can just download and open right? (not sure) and move the files onto a desktop or wherever.

So What's the difference why do people use .rar more than .zip this confused me alot.

Windows XP and above have built in support for .zip files, so you don't need to download any extra software to use them. .rar files tend to compress better than .zip which is why some people use them here (or rather, some of the original people used .rar for that reason, then everybody copied them).

Nobody /copied/ the original Q Epoch you fool... Different compression types compress files to different strengths, and at different speeds. For example for one of the best compressions you could use gzip.

In most cases, I've found lzma (the format used in 7zip) to work best.
