Where do you live, Country-wise.

I'm in the UK and I'm with virgin media on the 50mb Package. I get around 30mb+ download speed's on average days and around 9mb+ on upload and around 1-4ms Ping. What company did he buy the fibre optic package from?

650KB/s is NOT fiber... I get 2MB/s with cable...

Edit

NTT was able to achieve 69.1 Tb/s transmission by applying wavelength division multiplex (WDM) of 432 wavelengths with a capacity of 171 Gb/s over a single 240 km-long optical fiber. This is the highest optical transmission ever recorded in the transmission field. [5].

The per-channel light signals propagating in the fiber have been modulated at rates as high as 111 gigabits per second by NTT,[6][7] although 10 or 40 Gb/s is typical in deployed systems.[8][9] Each fiber can carry many independent channels, each using a different wavelength of light (wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM)). The net data rate (data rate without overhead bytes) per fiber is the per-channel data rate reduced by the FEC overhead, multiplied by the number of channels (usually up to eighty in commercial dense WDM systems as of 2008). The current laboratory fiber optic data rate record, held by Bell Labs in Villarceaux, France, is multiplexing 155 channels, each carrying 100 Gb/s over a 7000 km fiber.[10]

so fiberlines are 100gbps or 10gps/generally

Dial-Up? Old school my friend; need to get with the times. Joke. Why are you still using Dial Up?

fiber lines can carry 10gbps

^ What was said above there.. 650KB is probably almost as bad as Dial Up. I thought 1MB was slow man. Most companies that host dedicated servers etc have a direct link up to fibre optic broadband (uplink) but only use around 1GBPS - Not seen many companies host a dedicated server with a uplink over 1GBPS. I wouldn't suggest hosting anything off 650KB/S

650kb/s is fast enough for me, idk what the hell your using.

650kb/s is awesome compared to my shitty broadband connection in a low-speed area, but that's terrible for a fiber optic connection.

See, the guys above are saying they get like 15mb/s ...

My downloads max out at 160kb/s and uploads at 40kb/s .

But seeing as my internet has yet to fail me and gaming is never laggy besides far away hosts even then it isn't that bad at all. And seeing as my internet hasn't been upgraded since around when I moved in to this house 4-5 years ago.

... I'm just on normal shiz (Plus I only have a 3gb ram) and I still get 271.0 kb/s..

Why spend more cash than you need to >.>... I mean it's not like you really need it...

Ram has NOTHING to do with download speed.

Lol, Dial-up is a lot slower than 650 kbs/s. Dail-up is around 50 kbs/s.

@OP 650 isn't that great either bud.
