View Full Version : Runelocus Statistics

You guys know the runelocus statistics that show ontop of the forum that shows the recent thread, reply, hottest topic, etc?

Well in my opinion I think it would be for the best to move it into the footers and below the forum personally I think alot of people would rather see the forum part than a statistics first. It would make it look better in a way. You don't have to do it but this is only a suggestion anyway.

I prefer it being on top but that my opinion.

Scourge
July 22nd, 2010, 05:10
Well if the administrators are going to keep it ontop. I at least think they should make a option where we can remove it from our view because I don't like seeing it at all its kinda a waste of space of the index. A option to remove it ourselfs would be great aswell.

Ziek`
July 22nd, 2010, 05:40
When we had a problem with it before and Iki removed it temporarily, he put up a poll asking where we'd like to have it when he put it back up. Most people chose the top. If you don't want to see it, just do what I do and collapse it using the little arrow button in the far right corner.

Yah maybe you can convince ikiliki to realize its just a waste of space and taking up room that could be made for something else on the index?

It's good at the top as it is easy to look at new posts ;)

Why do you need to see new posts with that? When you can click 'new posts' on the top left of the navbar?

It basically automatically updates without having to refresh the page every 2 minutes. Some people don't like it there; but at least you can minimize it with the arrow. However if we remove it along with the Top Poster sidebar etc.. We'll get every 12 year old winging about how they deserve to be shown on the index.

"omfg y ded u remoove al mah postz frm da index pg, i hd 2 sp4m fr thm!"

Because the topics automatically update so I can see new replies quicker than using the new posts tab next to the nav bar.

So...

If you don't like it just minimise it, people voted for it to be up on the top so it should stay there.

It is a brilliant feature and I'm sure other people will agree with me that it is easy to navigate through new posts and topics you just posted on.

You are being stupid now, the majority of this forum are kids, probably including yourself.

This feature is great for the forums and is not a waste of space at all, it provides great statistics and easy access to new posts.

By the way, the topic where we had to vote is still in the polls section, I think.

Actually I am not a kid really. I am probably older than you? But I don't know how old you are so.. It doesn't really provide great statistics. All it provides is stuff the forum already had in the first place your just to lazy to use the default features. Thats why ikiliki probably added it for the 'lazy' people.

I am 16.

It gives easier access to posts as I have said 3 times already. It is not for lazy people at all it's for people who like to browse and post with ease.
Stop bringing stupid excuses into this it is clear it was a great feature when it was added and still is.

Off topic: Well how about that I am older than you I am 17. :p

Well if you can't use the 'new posts (Only the registered members can see the link.)' default feature. Then that would be why ikiliki added this because the members are to lazy to use the default features. Even if you deny it. It is true its because your lazy. I am not making stupid excuses. Also if you like a certian thread like a popular one you can also just click 'subscribe to thread' (or whatever it would be called.) on the top or bottom of that thread.

I don't want to subscribe to threads, I don't want to have to refresh every 2 minute to see a reply to a topic I have just posted on. I would rather be able to see it on the main index and let it automatically update, because that allows you to browse with ease. That's what makes a good forum, the ease of browsing and posting ;)

I like it at the top for the new posts because its easier and I don't have to look at posts I don't want to look at.

Plus it being at the top allows me to see new threads and then scroll through the forum and look through the boards.

Because you're basically, "I don't want this, so it shouldn't be here!!!" I have actually had it come in handy during moderating. For example, last night, when we had that stupid spammer posting multiple topics with a gazillion YouTube links, I noticed it before it got out of hand because of the Statistics showing the New Posts. He only got 4 topics up before I saw and banned him.

I will admit there is good points to having it and bad.

Bad:
Its on the top its annoying.
It already has most of the features vbulletin comes with by default

Good:
The ajax
Viewing top posters
New members
and few other things quicker.

But it is just annoying overall to me and probably to some other members aswell. I know im not the only one who dislikes it. If there is more people that want to keep it fine. But it seriously needs to be moved to the bottom not the top. It would make the forum look way better than it being on the top. Then everyone is happy?

Then minimize it? Does it take so much effort to click a button and leave it at that?

Matty
July 22nd, 2010, 22:31
The top means it is easier to access the automatically updated replies. Having it at the bottom just means I have to scroll to see a new reply when I could of easily refreshed in the time it took to scroll down.

The other this is that it takes up space at the top, without it, it would look plain. Add there would be nothing to replace it, I think it is in the right place and more members obviously think the same as this has been the second suggestion to move it to the bottom which is currently being downplayed.

Aff is right, the majority rules, just because you don't like his opinion doesn't mean he's breaking any rules. You are superior to no one, especially Aff and Matty who are community members for a reason. Don't be so arrogant and self-righteous in your posts, it generally pisses people off.

Sure, he's gotten a bit defensive, but hell, even I would get defensive against your comments, which seem to be so illogically based on your own egotistical agenda that anything anyone else has to say that is slightly off your mindset is wrong and should be banned.
