Yes it is. Blue and light is really hard if you want a custom style for RuneScape. The style however is worth the change

It's not double work. There is one theme already working (this one), and some people will prefer it. I don't see why it would be hard to stay with this theme as an option.

Yes, I preferred blueish and light too. I've actually asked the designing company to do so, but after some chats, we've decided not to do so.

Our previous styles were not soley made for RuneScape. They were just styles that fit any kind of website, blue, white, black. It looked really nice, but it didn't have anything to do with RuneScape at all. That's something we want to change.
Creating a style soley for RuneScape is impossible to do with white and blue. You'll need dark colors for that for sure.
The new style is extremely nice and definitely worth changing back to dark colors again. I'm sure you'll agree.

Also, here's what the message from the designers.
"We had some talks and decided that a light blueish website would not be appropriate even though you specifically said that. A good Runescape type website was impossible to design. If we kept the colors you wanted (and currently have) then the new design wouldn't have much in common with Runescape ."

The complete website has been rewritten. A new toplist, a new status page. Everything has changed and obviously doesn't fit into the current website style anymore. Too many changes to that, that'd require massive updates to the current style too.
