This is similar to a reputation, just instead of the word reputation - it's replaced with the word thanked (:D).

What Rog3r said pretty much summed up my opinion but I'll reword it: it would just be used as an alternative and people will resort to once again classing members by how popular (by receiving the most 'thanks') they are.
