I'm taking web animation next year and we are using Adobe, and of course I want to make better shit and impress others in my class so I want to learn actionscript but its not required to learn it but I just want to. Can anyone teach me the basics or give me a good link for it?

Here's a big tip for you in your internet experiences: Don't ask for people to teach you, do it yourself. Search engines exist for a reason, use them. They're plenty of tutorials out there, especially on simple things like Visual Basic and ActionScript. Learn it yourself so you understand it better. Why would someone waste their time teaching someone who simply isn't willing to use the resources that are available?

Some people enjoy teaching others I believe, Trey. Though there are few of those that would do it here, let alone for free.

Actionscript is a really fun coding language, it's even easy, too. Well, AS2 is, I hate AS3. You just need to find some tutorials, youtube is great. Or take a flash course, like I did.
