does anybody have a system or tutorial for adding a X option where you can write your own thing and than the thing can be used?

I want to code this: When you click an object, you get an chatboxinterface with 'please insert the amount:', then the player is able to write down an amount. And when he presses enter, the amount is actually saved in player.java as amount = 0;.
