Throwback Thursday: Winterlove RSPS

If you where around the Runescape Private Server scene when it was first starting you had a bunch of different clients and sources that you could use and play on. One of the very popular options was Winterlove. The developer of Winterlove initially created it to be used to assist him in cheating on actual Runescape but then later turned it into a private server that many people could play. More specifically Winterlove was created to test different types of automation software for Runescape that we now know as bots. We all know now that it evolved into something much much larger. Below are some screenshots of Winterlove.

A newer verison of WinterloveLet us know in the comments if you ever played Winterlove and how it was different from the servers we have today!

What was your favorite Halloween minigame?

Halloween is approaching so we’re going to do a lot of Halloween related posts to get into the Halloween spirit! For years Runescape has always done a pretty good job providing fun mini games for us to play around all Holidays and Halloween has always been one of the best. Who could forget the year that we got H’Ween masks or how about the year when we got skeleton costumes. Our main question is, what was your favorite year for Halloween and why? Was it because of the specific mini game that year? Was it because of what you got? Let us know in the comments below!

Runelocus Halloween Logo

Happy October Runelocus! We’re coming closer and closer to the day we all love, Halloween! This is the time for pumpkin pie, hoodie sweatshirts and who could forget the best candy of all time candy corn.  We’ve added a new logo to the Runelocus forums and main website that represents Halloween.  In the comments below let us know what you’ll be doing this Halloween!

Runescape Memes: Oh Noobs

In the wonderful game of Runescape you always had that one group of people bashing on noobs and trying to take the little amounts of money they had. This meme is using a hunter trap to make fun of the fact that you could trap a noob instead of a NPC in it by luring them in with money.

Throwback Thursday: First Player To Get A 99!

Ever wonder who the first player in Runescape to get a 99 was? Meet Everdred, not only was he the first Runescape player to get a 99 but he as the first player to get the levels 80 and 90 in any skill as well. The skill that he finally got 99 in was woodcutting and at the time very few people even come close to what he accomplished. Although he is only a level 87 to this date he had over 27,000,000 (27 million) xp in Woodcutting. He’s been inactive since 2004 but some people thinks he may come back.

What was your first 99 in Runescape?

Meme Monday: New Messages

Don’t you love waking up in the morning to new messages? Especially when the message is one from Jagex saying that you where banned? This is defiantly a screen that we all dread and usually what follows this is sadness, then anger then sadness. You then say that you’re leaving Runescape forever you that it’s time for you to grow up. Guess where you are 2 weeks later? You’re on a fresh account in Lumbridge starting all over of course!

Throwback Thursday: Castle Wars

rsps security tip tuesday

Castle Wars is arguably the most played and best Runescape minigame ever. Jagex released Castle Wars on December 14, 2004.  The objective is simple, each team has a flag and the other teams goal is to break into the opposite teams base and steal the flag. Runescape did at it’s own twists and unique features but it’s pretty obvious they based the minigame off of Capture The Flag. In 2009 Castle Wars was voted the most popular player vs player minigame in a poll hosted on the official Runescape website. Here is an old castle wars video!

Although there are no skill or quest requirements to participate in the game, you’d generally see a variety of different high level players battling it out. For the most part lower levels would quickly be killed and wouldn’t be able to enjoy it as much. Share the memories you have of playing castlewars down in the comments below!

Have you ever owned a RSPS?

The other night the Runelocus team was thinking about how we could improve the website and we the Runelocus fans and general community came up. We started to think about how many of you guys have owned an RSPS versus how many of you guys are players. Let us know using this poll what your answer is and include in the comments below (if you want of course) how active your server was.
